French Dip Sandwiches

Jan 14, 2013

Daniel's parents are coming over for supper tonight so I decided to pull out one of our favourite roast recipes. I use a frozen roast, straight from the freezer, put it on low for 7 hours in my slow cooker.

I should mention my slow cooker seems to cook everything really hot, so I find that 7 hours is a really long time!

French Dip Roast (Slow Cooker)

by Renee Pihowich

Ingredients (12 servings)
  • 3-4 lbs Roast
  • 1/2 cup Soya Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Beef Oxo
  • 1 Bay Leaves
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Rosemary (crushed)
  • 1 tsp Thyme
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

Place roast in a 5-quart slow cooker.
Combine soy sauce and next 6 ingredients.
Pour over roast.
Add water to slow cooker until roast is almost covered.
Cook, covered, on LOW for 7 hours or until very tender.
Remove roast, reserving broth.
You may shred roast with a fork and serve on sandwich rolls with the broth on the side.

To serve I usually cut a french roll in half lenghtwise, spread on some garlic butter and add some shredded mozzarella cheese. Then place under the broiler until bubbly and golden.
Serve with some of the sauce on the side to dip in to, trust me, its so much better dipped!
